I just spent all day trying to upgrade my friends Fusion to what I thought was the current Sync V4.4. All day the Ford website kept telling me that the service was down. Finally I broke down and called Ford to make sure it wasn't a computer error on my end. After doing some searching the Ford rep told me that V4.4 has been pulled by Ford and is no longer available. He also said that within a few weeks Sync V4.6 should be released. He said V4.4 was no longer recommended by Ford. Understand this was for a Fusion but since the Sync platform runs the same in every model, I would think we would be seeing a V4.6 update as well. So maybe all of us with V4.4 issues could have them solved with V4.6? Let's hope!

In this video I go through the procedure to update SYNC on your Ford vehicle. This procedure generally applies to model years prior to 2015. For me, the main reason for doing it was the updated look. The 3.0 seemed so mid-90's in my opinion. I am not 100% sure if you need to be on v3.4, but there is also an updated map database (v1.18).

Update to Ford Sync 4.6 (Gen 1) I have a 2011 Ford Escape and I went to Ford's website and jumped through the hoops to try and download the update but when I click download both IE and Chrome report a 'File now found' like Ford has pulled access to the update. Software versions SYNC 3 version 3.2 is planned to be available for service and download at the beginning of summer. When you enable automatic system updates through Wi-Fi, SYNC 3 will automatically download, install and activate available system updates when connected to a Wi-Fi network.
