I've got had a ProjectMix I/O for the past year and once the new drivers came out it hasn't missed a beat (well maybe two crashes in the year but generally excellent). Couldn't live without the control surface. I find the mic pres perfectly serviceable but I am considering getting a two channel tube-based pre with ADC and hooking it up via the lightpipe. As it stands the best mic I'm using it with is a Rode NT2000 and that's been nice with the set-up as is, low noise and very clean sounding. One minor issue is occaisional glitching in the scribble strip but otherwise rock solid so far (knock on wood).
Never had sound drop-out issues, but it can't share the FW bus with anything else.
The ProjectMix works brilliantly with Logic (both 8 & 9) and I couldn't live without a surface - does great things to your workflow.
If you're planning on using Snow Leopard there will be a wait until M-Audio update the drivers - they're saying weeks but who knows..

Jul 18, 2016 For some reason Mackie doesn’t seem to be willing to spend the money to have their drivers certified by Apple. Until OS X Mavericks the Onyx would work fine, then after updating to OS X Yosemite, it wouldn’t be recognized by the system anymore. For OS X Yosemite, the fix was easy: Open the Terminal; Type.
